OCULUCIS
“OCULUCIS” is a light art installation that takes shape through two monumental luminous eyes, suspended in space as enigmatic and silent presences. These eyes are not mere symbols of vision, but thresholds of meaning: they gaze at the viewer and, at the same time, invite them to question what it truly means to “see.”The light that animates them becomes a metaphor for perception itself: it compels us to ask whether seeing is a superficial act, bound to appearances, or whether it can transform into a deeper form of knowing—one that transcends what is immediately visible. The luminous gaze of OCULUCIS is both mirror and inquiry: it observes and reflects, illuminates and conceals, comforts and unsettles.

About the Artist
Hermes H:E:M Mangialardo is a Cartoonist, visual light artist and 3D videomapper. He combines the production of animations and short films (awarded in many festivals around the world) with his activity as a visual artist and 3D mapper, creating Architectural mapping around Europe, winning among others the Berlin festival of Light, the Spotlight of Bucharest, the first prize at the Pescara Mapping, the audience award at the Zsolnay Videomapping contest in Hungary.His videomappings have illuminated some of the most important buildings around Europe (such as the Colosseum, the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Pecs Cathedral or the 360 degree work on the Fountain of the Four Rivers in Rome).In 2021 and 2023 he created 2 shorts film against women’s and children abuse with Pope Francis, and many light and museum installations, including DIVINE STANZE, dedicated to the Divine Comedy.His lightart work “Oculucis” was the most requested light installation at European light festivals and beyond in 2025, having been exhibited in Shanghai during the light festival.
