Sewn Together

Sewn Together

Slow Stitching is the practice of traditional pastimes involving hand-stitching; embroidery, mending, knitting, appliqué, etc. The gentle, repetitive act of needle pulling thread allows us a moment to pause our hurried lives and relax into the measured pace of working with textiles. Button Factory Arts Slow Stitchers is an informal weekly gathering of all levels of stitching enthusiasts, during which individuals work on current projects or begin new ones in a supportive environment.

For Sewn Together Button Factory Arts Slow Stitching Group members will reflect on their personal relationship to fibre based mediums and the group itself with a collection of tiny fibre pieces will come together to create one installation. The work will be installed in the new display box (name pending) near the accessibility ramp on the exterior of Button Factory Arts.

Dimensions: 100 small squares at approximately 20x20”
