Get Involved with Lumen

Why should I volunteer?
Lumen is an annual, free, all-ages festival that is open to the public and run by the City of Waterloo’s Arts and Culture team, Create Waterloo. The event features the work of artists as they explore the interplay of light, art, and technology in installations located throughout uptown Waterloo.

What would I be doing as a volunteer?
Volunteers will be assisting in helping the festival run smoothly! There are a variety of tasks you may be doing depending on the type of shift you sign up for.

What type of volunteer shifts are there?
There are three different types of volunteer shifts: Setup, Tear-down, and Festival Assistant.

Tear-Down: assist with carrying and tear-down of tents, sound equipment, signage. Must be age16 or older and able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Event Assistant: greet attendees, provide directions, hand out materials, assist with artist installations.

How do I apply to be a volunteer?
Visit the City of Waterloo volunteer application page. Once you complete an application, you will be directed to another screen where you can view and sign up for shifts.
